Project Description

Emily was commissioned to create a permanent installation at Stanford Health Care center in Emeryville. The piece, called Tumbleweed, was originally envisioned to be hand-formed steel, but after the first prototype was built she realized she needed something lighter weight and easier to produce and install. We took her sketches and produced rendered drawings and 3D models, and then fabricated and finished the pieces. Tumbleweed is made of aluminum rings cut on the CNC plasma, with aluminum wire mesh sections.
