Artist Monica Lundy created “Hopi Prisoners” as a site-specific installation on Alcatraz Island in 2011. Monica’s vision was to replicate a mug shot of Hopi prisoners who were incarcerated on the island in 1895 in cut and rusted steel, which when leaned against the wall created a multifaceted image. Captive Spark digitized a photograph of Monica’s original painting, and cut the image out on a CNC plasma table.
